• Master of English (emphasis in linguistics) with an adult education teaching certification, University of Nebraska-Omaha
• Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Spanish, University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Professional Experience
Mela has over 15 years teaching experience in higher education working for universities, community colleges, and other institutes both in the United States and abroad.

As a teacher and team leader, she has coordinated coursework development and delivery for face-to-face and online learning environments and has served as a consultant in the development and delivery of specialty courses for the public and private sector.

Currently, serving in the Distance Learning Center at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, she supports the development and delivery of online courses by integrating educational technology and communication tools into the curriculum by emphasizing international collaboration for the advancement of higher education.

Personal Information
In her free time, Mela enjoys biking, hiking, and playing the guitar.  Her other interests include cultures, languages, human rights issues, and travel.
