Scheduler System
The scheduler system
allows a person to post a schedule through the web and have people sign
themselves up. If you wish to use this system, see the section on
getting registered below.
The basic idea is that you post a schedule such as
Appointments with Dr. Absent
Use this form to sign up for an appointment with test. Click on a Reserve
button to select a time.

and others can click on a "Reserve" button to sign up for a particular
time. Key features:
- The person posting the schedule uses a the web to set up the schedule.
- Scheduled appointments can be loaded into Zimbra - see here for directions.
- You can control what information is printed with the schedule, either
to include directions or to give links to more information.
- Appointments can be for 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, and 60 minutes.
- You can set things up so people have to sign up for appointments
several hours in advance of the appointment itself; this can be helpful if
you want to plan the next day's schedule.
- People signing up enter their email address so they can be contacted if
an appointment needs to change.
- The person who signs up will receive a link by email that he or she can
use to cancel the appointment.
- If you'd like to receive email every time a student signs up, let hasker know - this is an option
that currently has to be turned on and off by hand.
- More than one person can be listed for an appointment when a group
needs to meet.
- You can change the start and end times that are scheduled along with
which days of the week are being scheduled. For instance, you could have
appointments on Wednesday though Saturday.
To test out the system as a person signing up for an appointment, visit the
site for test
and try signing up for an appointment and cancelling it. If you'd like to
set up a schedule, go to the login page and enter
"test" as the username, leaving the password blank.
Getting Registered
To use this system, send a request by email to hasker. Please include your UWP
email address, the name you'd like students to see on email (such as
"Dr. Iam Absent"), and what password you'd like to use.
Note: do not send your UWP email password for the very
simple reason that Dr. Hasker will then know what it is!
Note that your registration is essentially permanent; you don't need to
re-request an account in future semesters.
Planned Enhancements
Planned future enhancements:
- Add support for putting titles above each column.
- Provide support for on-campus users who are connected via wireless.
Currently the system requires campus users to be connected directly;
this issue should not affect off-campus wireless users.
- Send email a day in advance to all people who are signed up for
an appointment.
- Allow people to use their Novell Netware password to set up their
schedules.
