International Masters Degree for Computer Science
University of Wisconsin - Platteville, USA
Hochschule Darmstadt, Germany
James Cook University, Townsville, Australia
The above three universities have joined together to offer an international
master's degree in computer science. Students take classes from at least
two schools: their "home" institution and one of the partner institutions.
Depending on the student, the program can be completed in three or four
semesters. Courses include traditional computer science subjects such as
databases, artificial intelligence, object-oriented software development
and compiler construction. There are also more applied courses such as
mobile computing, robotics, enterprise computing, and computer
security. In addition, students take culture and language courses related
to their chosen "abroad" institution. Thus students obtain a truly
international experience, both from living abroad and from studying and
working with students from other cultures. This program graduates students
who are both technically proficient in their chosen area of computer
science and are experienced in working in an international setting.
Classes at UW-Plattevllie start in January of each year. Students starting
the US spend a spring semester in Platteville and then travel to either
Darmstadt, Germany or Townsville, Australia. Students then generally
return to Platteville for thesis work in the following spring.
