Managing Money Successfully is a learned skill. This web based education and counseling program can help everyone better manage their money.

UW-Platteville is approved to issue certificates in compliance with the Bankruptcy Code. Approval does not endorse or assure the quality of an Agency's services. If you are working with a bankruptcy attorney, UW-Platteville is approved in both the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin. Upon successful completion of the program, the appropriate certificate will be issued and emailed to you within one business day. If you prefer, we can mail or fax the certificate.

Statement of Fees
The cost of the program is $49 per person. Husbands and wives may take the course together as a household for $49. Clients must register below with credit card payment before gaining access to the online counseling material.

Credit counseling is offered by UWP-OCE without regard for ability to pay. The fee will be reduced or waived upon the client providing information that household income is less than 150% of the poverty level or upon providing documentation of public assistance such as food stamps, TANF, Medicaid, or SSL. If you have questions, contact Rick Morgan at 608.342.1347.

Because your confidentiality is important, within two to four days of your registration, you will be issued via email a five digit userid and password number. This number will be provided only to your instructor for identification purposes. Your instructor will also receive your telephone number. You will receive a call from your instructor to begin the counseling program and will be phoned again at the end to review your work and have any additional questions answered. Please note that your spreadsheets, especially your asset listing, needs to be emailed to the counselor BEFORE this final session can occur.

In order to ensure confidentiality, counseling clients should own and use only their own personal computer systems, either desktop or laptop PC. Please do not enroll if you do not own your own computer system.

Debt Management Plans
The UW-Platteville does not offer a Debt Management Plan service. To find an approved Debt Management Plan provider, you are referred to the U.S. Trustees webpage.

Funding Sources for UW-Platteville Office of Continuing Education
UW-Platteville Office of Continuing Education is funded primarily by program revenue. Program revenue is money collected by the Office of Continuing Education from class tuition or service fees. Once collected, program revenue becomes part of the State of Wisconsin funding stream for UW-Platteville and comprises approximately 75% of the funding for the Office of Continuing Education. Continuing Education receives a limited amount of General Purpose Revenue (tax dollars or GPR) from the UW-Extension System and UW-Platteville. UW-Extension System support is limited to competitive grant initiatives or funding for cultural enrichment activities. UW-Platteville support is usually for services rendered to the general academic community or undergraduate and graduate students.

Impact on Credit Report
Taking this class will not show up or adversely affect your credit report. If you file for bankruptcy, use a Debt Management Program, or Consumer Credit Counseling Program, these programs will affect your credit. These are programs where a third party directly helps you with your finances. The following will affect your credit in some way, filing chapter 7 or 13 or bankruptcy, or making payments to your creditors on your behalf after withdrawing the funds from your checking or savings account. How your credit report is affected will depend on the program you choose to hire to work on your behalf.
