A Testimonial From Nancy J. Young

Mr. Morgan,

Now that my Child Care Administrator Credential courses are finished, I'd like to make a few observations.

I learned about the courses through a postcard sent out by UW-Platteville. I was delighted to finally be offered classes in a time frame that worked for a small business owner like myself, with a Saturday format. I frequently receive fliers for interesting workshops, seminars, etc. that are during the week, and I am unable to close my day care to attend them.

Surprisingly, although we only "met" three times per course in a classroom setting, and at four distance locations, there was a real "group" feeling and cohesiveness to the class that I credit to the instructors.

I never had to travel more than 50 miles for a course (usually far less) -- I find that to be reasonable.

In addition to our gatherings in the Dells, I was at three separate satellite sites (N. Fon du lac, Oshkosh and Appleton) during the first five courses. All facilities were quite fine.

All three instructors: Jeanine O'Brien, Linda Hurst and Theresa Herberling were very knowledgeable about their topics, engaging and enthusiastic. They were available via phone or e-mail for any help needed.

The coursework was challenging (in my estimation), but do-able in the time-frames allotted.

It was nice to know from the very beginning of course one, perhaps even at registration, when the rest of the class-times would be held to prevent conflicts (or at least minimize them).

It would have been nice, as the courses turned out to be adequate to qualify as a half-time student, to have some UW benefits: discounts on software, use of library system, etc.

The experience of taking a distance course through UW-Platteville has been a very positive one, and I am delighted to have had the opportunity!

Thank you,
Nancy J. Young
