The Wisconsin Professional Preschool Credential

In Partnership with Southwest Technical College
Southwest Technical College

In June, child care providers from around the state will begin upgrading their skills and centers by starting course work on The Wisconsin Professional Preschool Credential.

We know you are busy so this program is designed to cause as little disruption to your daily routine as possible. You will never have to come to Platteville to attend class. You will receive FACE TO FACE INSTRUCTION IN YOUR HOME as well as from our online website. In order to enroll, you must either have or have access to a DSL telephone line and a webcam. Subject to review by enrolled students, we anticipate class being held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. If you have questions on the technical requirements for this course, please contact Rick Morgan at 608.342.1347.

This is a six course, eighteen credit credential. The credential provides the opportunity for child care providers to focus specifically on the needs of the preschool child (children age three through eight). It provides you with an opportunity to receive training relevant to the ages of the child with whom you work. Preschool teachers, teacher’s assistants, program directors and administrators from full day and half day early care and education should all consider enrolling. At the end of program, you will have earned eighteen University of Wisconsin-Platteville undergraduate credits.

Preschool Credential

The Preschool Credential is designed to help you apply child development theory to your practice. You will learn techniques to observe, record, and assess child growth and development while implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum in your center. You will also focus on how to incorporate developmentally appropriate guidance strategies while providing a respectful, diverse, and inclusive program.

For further information about these programs, see the descriptions on the right. For additional information or to register, e-mail Rick Morgan at morganr@uwplatt.edu. If you prefer, call Rick at 608.342.1347. For information about technical requirements, see recommended software and browsers.
