FAQs

  1. How many credits are in the program?
    Students will successfully complete 32 graduate hours to obtain an MSE degree. Emphasis courses in Adult Education make up 12 credits in the program and are required for all students, along with a 2-credit seminar paper/project. A master's thesis (3-6 credits) is also an option.

  2. How many credits are in the concentration?
    Students will successfully complete 18 credits for the Concentration on Management and Art courses. Up to 12 credits of courses in Management will be designed to develop leadership and management skills. Additional 6-9 credits of coursework in Art will be developed with a focus on creativity and innovation. The distribution of credits will depend on a student's educational background, knowledge and skills, interests and educational goals.

  3. How will the courses be delivered?
    The Adult Education courses are offered through the School of Education in a weekend format - using distance delivery to reach several communities across the state. The Cultural Arts Management and Arts courses are offered through Continuing Education, with a mix of weekend format and summer weekdays. Courses will include an online component.

  4. What are the employment possibilities?
    Students develop knowledge and skills for leadership and management positions in local, regional and statewide arts and cultural settings:

    Theatres Arts Councils
    Civic Centers, Performing Arts Centers Festivals
    Visual Art Center or School Colleges and Universities
    Operas Foundations
