This Focus on Engineering Summer Program – Electrical Engineering (EE) course or the Focus on Engineering Summer Program - Microsystems and Nanotechnology Engineering (MSNT) course are the same as EE 1020 and MSNT 1010, which are required of UW-Platteville's EE and MSNT students. Therefore, high school students who successfully complete this program will be awarded credit for the course they select.
Students taking either one of these courses will be instructed by our engineering faculty in a laboratory environment using our state-of-the-art equipment and in the recently constructed engineering building on the UW-Platteville campus.
Electrical Engineering – EE 1020 course
This one-credit course is titled Electrical Engineering Projects and Tools and is required of all students majoring in EE at UW-Platteville. The course is an introduction to the hardware and software used in the electical engineering industry and to basic electrical circuit layout and fabrication.
Microsystems and Nanotechnology Engineering – MSNT 1010 course
This one-credit course is titled Introduction to Microsystems and Nanotechnology and is required of all students who intend to major or minor in MSNT at UW-Platteville. The course includes hands-on projects in micro- and nano-scale characterization and fabrication. Students will work in our state-of-the-art clean laboratory learning material and device characterization techniques using our Atomic-Force Microscope, Scanning Electron Microscope and Optical Profiler
