Many bright, ethical educators with the best of intentions unknowingly harm students and breach codes of ethics, school policies, and state laws. This is the only computerized ethics course in the United States developed to improve an educator’s understanding of his or her violation potential and to construct a personalized protection plan to guide an educator’s moral compass. Target Audience
This course is intended for educators and administrators who have not violated or have not been accused of a breach of ethics, boundaries, law, or policy.
Educators currently dealing with administrative or disciplinary action for an accusation and/or violation, or preparing for regulatory hearings as a result of such actions, require the specialized course, Professional Boundaries, Ethics, and Professionalism for Educators: A Course for Teachers Facing Administrative and Disciplinary Action.
Course Format
"Maintaining Ethics and Professional Boundaries in Our Schools" is an interactive educational algorithm adapted from the live national programs currently produced by Professional Boundaries, Inc., and condensed into relatively brief, autonomous, online experiences. These courses are based on a conceptual teaching model (The Boundary/Ethics Formula™) that looks at the relationship of multiple variables that impact ethical decision processing. An algorithm, developed by a student at Princeton University, mathematically converts your selection of elements in the Formula into a general numeric range. This will help you determine your potential for violations, which will then enable you the opportunity to take pro-active steps for reducing this potential. At the conclusion, you will be asked to complete the course evaluation and a short post-test. The University of Wisconsin - Platteville will issue your Certificate of Completion.
