Classes for College for Kids
Kindergarten
Science Experiments (MTWTh)
Each day we will explore a science topic.
The first day we will talk about seeds and
plants. The second day we will discuss the
stages of a butterfly. The third and fourth
days we will learn about the five senses and
do experiments with liquids.
Krafts for Kids (MTWTh)
We will be working with paint,
weaving, beads, glitter and
more! Some projects include
bookmarks, pens, necklaces,
games, bead art, magnets,
and a painting. Kids will bring
home at least ten projects.
Grades 1 & 2
Alien Adventure (MTWTh)
Take a trip into outer space! In this class
we will be exploring the outer regions.
Learn about the planets, sun, and entire
universe. Activities include many hands-on
experiments, creative arts, rocket building,
and edible science projects.
Chemistry (MTWTh)
Observe, experiment, and
research! Separate liquid
from a solid, fi nd out about
the colors in ink, and grow
a large crystal. Recover
water from a colored
solution; study the strange
behavior of starch & water.
Exploring Art (MTWTh)
Are you creative? Do you like exploring the
world of art using a variety of mediums?
Then this is the class for you! Projects
may include: sand art, paper mache,
kaleidoscopes, mosaics, homemade
jewelry, and more. Experience the many
facets of being creative with art.
Insects and Their Relatives (MTWTh)
Do you like bugs? Do you
know how many different
kinds of bugs there are
around you? Join the fun
and discover how to collect,
mount, and identify insects!
Reading Games (MTWTh)
Practice digraphs, rhymes, and word
families using homemade and purchased
games; some will be at a table while others
will be movement-oriented. A simple,
effective way to build early reading skills.
Science is Fun! (MTWTh)
Lots of simple, interesting,
and sometimes messy
science experiments
created just for little
hands. We will discuss in
very simple terms what is
happening during these
experiments. A handout for
simple, inexpensive science
projects for parents to do at-home with
their children is also provided. This will be a
fun, hands-on learning experience for your
children!
Skip Counting Plus (MTWTh)
Snap-together squares, coins, and base-ten
blocks will be used to show how much fun
and easy skip counting can be. Learn how
to multiply by 2's, 5's, 10's, etc. with lots of
hands-on movement activities.
Grades 3 & 4
Paint Experimenting (MT)
Involves nature and
the outdoor world in an
exploration of color and paint
mixing and using different
types of paint with various
methods of application will be
explained. Experimentation and creativity
will be stressed.
Living the Pioneer Life (MT)
Ever wanted to see what it was like to live
like a pioneer? Learn how to make and eat
delicious pioneer food, animal pin cushions,
and a variety of pioneer treasures. Play
pioneer games and make toys that the
pioneer children enjoyed playing with.
Rock Hounds (MT)
Become a Rock Hound through many
hands-on activities. Start a rock collection,
create a mosaic with rock chips, see how
heat and pressure change crayons, find
small fossils, and paint a plaster cast of a
real shark tooth!
Scrapbooking Superstars (MT or WTh)
Bring your favorite photos of family, friends,
birthdays, vacations, pets, etc. to create
your very own scrapbook pages. Learn how
to crop, mat, and mount photos, journal
your memories, and embellish while using
fun papers, stickers, paper punches, stencils,
and more!
Who Done It? (MT or WTh)
Use logic and science to solve mysteries.
Participants will learn how evidence
collected at crime scenes can be used to
determine what happened, how, and who
did it.
Caves & Rivers
(counts as 2 classes, meets MTWTh)
Have an outdoor
adventure! Discover
how caves are formed
and why rivers are
important. Then take
a field trip to explore
a real cave, canoe
down a river! $10 fee includes canoe rental.
Chinese Culture (WTh)
Children journey to China through art, crafts,
games, music, and language. Students
learn simple Chinese phrases, geography,
folk songs, and Chinese painting.
Paper Art (WTh)
Paper will be used as a tool of art
exploration and expression. Experiment with
different types of paper, make paper from
scraps, and explore how those materials
can be used to create. Using easy to find
materials and recycling materials for art will
be stressed.
