This course is designed for educators who desire to improve teaching strategies while focusing on ways that businesses and schools can work together to achieve student, community, and national success. The Southwest Wisconsin Business and Education Summit will feature Jamie Vollmer who is a friend of public education, an inspiring presenter, and a former businessman and attorney. He is also the author of many videos. The implementation plan will provide an opportunity for participants to implement ideas obtained from the workshop in their classrooms, determine their usefulness, and evaluate their effectiveness with their students. As a follow-up to the workshop, participants will meet to discuss the content they implemented, procedures they used, and their evaluation of its effectiveness.

Using the conceptual frame work developed by Ron Clark to educate, inspire and motivate children, participants will learn techniques to develop group motivation and create a learning environment encouraging positive social interaction and self motivation. You will learn how pupils differ in approaching learning and the barriers impeding learning. Observe how others have adapted instruction to meet the diverse needs of their pupils, including those with disabilities, to raise test scores.

Description: Mon, Nov 23 - Dec 31, 2009; LOCATION: Dodgeville; INSTRUCTOR: Panyard Schultz. Upon completion of Reach for the stars, the participants will develop a plan to implement 'Ron Clark's Excellent 11 Qualities' discussed in class. Part of the plan requires teachers to complete a self-evaluation checklist. During this procedure the participant will analyze their own teaching method to identify the qualities they implement verses the qualities they need to enhance. After a plan is developed it will be implemented in their classrooms. Then the participants will report the results. The teacher/educational staff member will be expected to describe their experiences they encountered while implementing the plan.
