Description: Fri & Sat, Dec 4 & 5, 2009; Fri, 4:30 - 9:30 pm, Sat, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. LOCATION: Platteville; INSTRUCTOR: Oates. The workshop is geared towards classroom teachers, however, it will also benefit media specialists and administrators who are considering integrating e-mail, forums, blogs and other online tools (often called Web 2.0 tools) into their schools or who have already started the process. This workshop will encourage participants to infuse 21st century learning strategies with research-based best practices for technology integration, using electronic tools. Most examples in the workshop are based on the free offerings of ePals at www.epals.com. The training materials and examples are adaptable to other Web 2.0 tools as well. The goal of the workshop: participants will prepare a plan that fits within their curriculum to integrate online technology tools such as email, blogs, forums, etc. into the classroom to maximize student learning. Each participant will work on a project of their choosing, submitted after the in-person portion of the workshop.
