Welcome the UW-Platteville Office of Continuing Education home page for Teacher Recertification. Use the links on this page as a guide to rapid navigation as you look for that “just right” class. We offer courses in a wide variety of educational formats.
The first type of these classes utilizes Compact Disks. These classes, written by top professionals, are self-paced, multimedia, interactive courseware.
Virtual Education Software (VESi) has forged new style of professional development for busy teachers. UW-Platteville has 25 of these classes, all developed by VESi and fully approved by the university. Click on the logo to be taken to UWP’s VESi page to learn more about each of these exciting classes. Class syllabi are also available for each class.
Click on the logo and expand the science you can teach to K – 8 students. Traditional textbooks are often limited in their coverage of science concepts, leaving gaps in your students’ understanding. These compact disk classes from Seela Science® and UW Platteville help you fill those gaps with a wide selection of easy-to-understand science lessons, each based on a specific National Science Education Standards Content Standard. Look at the course descriptions. Take a look at the class syllabi. Each course is available for 2-undergraduate or graduate credits.
UWP's Office of Continuing Education also offers Web-Enhanced classes. These classes are offered predominately online. They offer you the same convenience and quality as our compact disk classes. Developed by educators in southwest Wisconsin, these classes are accessed on-line and offer you the opportunity to develop classroom units while taking the class. Click on the UWP logo and see what your colleagues are offering you.
Face to face classes are taught throughout the southwest Wisconsin area. Please use the tabs to your left to search for a course by location, by subject matter, or by instructor. During the K – 12 school year, classes are typically taught on a Friday night (4:30 pm to 9:30 pm) Saturday (8:30 am to 4:30 pm) pattern. During the summer, courses are taught all through the week usually from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
With your job, kids, and significant other, there is not a lot of time to devote to your own personal professional development. What you need is a wide variety of quality classes you can take at home, on your own time, when it is convenient for you. All of this convenience should be available to you without having to fill your gas tank and straining the family budget any further. UWP Office of Continuing Education (OCE) offers you two distinct types of distance learning opportunities to maximize your personal learning time.
Depending upon your needs, all of these computer based instruction approaches will help you meet your personal educational goals within your preferred learning style and time constraints. Review the classes to see if some of them won't help you advance your career and become a more efficient professional.
