Play Based Learning
Jeff Johnson is internationally known as an early learning author, speaker, and play advocate. For 16 years he directed a large child care and community center. In 2003, he and his wife, Tasha, opened Exploration Early Learning, a family child care program. Their program focuses on emergent learning in a play-based and child-centered environment. Jeff is a former board member of the IA AEYC and the NAFCC. He is the author of eight books focusing on caregiver self-care and play-based early learning.

Ideas, insights, tips, and tools to support healthy emotional environments and create care settings rich in child-led, play-based learning is the center piece of this course. Learn to care for yourself so you can better care for others. Deepen your understanding of the value of play in the lives and development of young children. Interactive online sessions will be full of ideas, discussions, and chances for you to connect with peers. Assignments involve "real world" activities you can use in your early learning program. Credits: 2 Undergraduate Credits, or 3 CEUs 10 contact hours in Understanding principles of child development and learning, 10 contact hours in Advancing children's physical and intellectual development, and 10 contact hours in Supporting Children's social and emotional development.
