Hello ArtsBuild folks!

Happy New Year!

Here are some interesting events coming up in our region soon.

Particularly, I hope that all of you creative types will be applying for our ArtsBuild exhibition! See third item below.

And you asked for workshops on e-commerce and photographing your art works - there they are! See #4 & #5.

As always, let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments.

Best for all of 2009,
Carole

Location:  Green Lantern Studios, 261 High Street, Mineral Point.  Phone 608-987-2880.  Parking on the street.

Cost: $10, payable at the door

5.  WORKSHOP: “PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR ART WORK” Tuesday, February 17th, 6 – 9 PM

You’re a visual person.  You’re making great art.  But did you know that exhibition jurors, gallery curators, and even busy web shoppers will simply blow by your images if they are poorly lit, out of focus, have distracting backgrounds, or otherwise look unprofessional?  It’s true.  Simply put, it is pivotal that all photographic representation of your artwork is as good as possible.

If you would like to know how to take better photos of your artwork, this class will help.  All you need is a basic understanding of your camera.  Instructor Steve Gassman encourages you to bring some of your artwork to this workshop so that you can get hands-on, practical advice that directly applies to your situation.  You may bring your camera too.

Location: 143 Doudna, University of Wisconsin, Platteville

Cost: $35

Call 608-342-1314 or 888 281-9472, or visit www.uwplatt.edu/cont_ed for more information on this class.

Continue to explore and create opportunities for furthering your professional and creative development—expand your artist networks and partnerships for inspiration, projects and grants—and promote the benefits of local arts in all of your community conversations. Please contact me with your specific interests for workshop topics and/or professional development topics you are interested in teaching.
