Rural Art

Art by definition is "human creativity, any specific skill or its application." The word "rural" adds practicality. Sometimes it reflects country spaces, usually is connected to the land and always is touched by people appreciative of an orderly, yet simpler view. Combining an artist's touch with rural creativity describes the seed business.

While Elmer Biddick provided a pioneering spirit to hybrid seed corn production, Ada promoted Biddick Hybrids with her creative designs. She painted with oils, sketched endlessly and was active in the Wisconsin Rural Art Association.

Trelay still considers seed an art form. It is practical creation each year reflecting the rural elements of the seasons. Living capsules created to move life across the winter divide.

These genomes in double helix partterns give plants new capabilities. As food is a basic need of the body, art is a basic need of the human mind. Trelay is appreciative of its rural art roots and looks forward to artistically applying its ingenuity for decades to come.
