Local Fare: Locally raised food is part of economic development and a healthy, vibrant Southwest Wisconsin

Southwest Wisconsin Local Food Summit

What is the Southwest Wisconsin Local Food Summit?

On Earth Day, April 22, 2008, the community of Southwest Wisconsin, including local leaders, urban and rural residents, farmers, nonprofit advocates, UW Extension agents and many others will gather at the convention center in Belmont, Wis. to share information and build efforts to expand the region’s local food markets.

Why should I attend?

This one-day Southwest Wisconsin Local Food Summit is your chance to have a voice in building networks for the growing demand for locally produced food. If you are interested in, or are already part of a local food effort, this Summit will offer an excellent opportunity to share your experiences and learn from others around the region.

What will I take away?

The Summit is an excellent opportunity to network with others and begin taking action in implementing local food models. Get ideas from several featured speakers, a local foods distribution panel, and synthesize those ideas during a World Café interaction session in the afternoon.
