The Confucius Institute at UW-Platteville is honored to be one of the few locations in Wisconsin to host the HSK, YCT, and BCT Chinese language proficiency exams. These exams are administered in many nations and supervised by the State HSK Commission of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China .

The HSK, YCT, & BCT are China's official, standardized Chinese language proficiency test for non-native speakers to certify that non-native Chinese speakers are qualified to communicate in Chinese at the level required for business, school, and daily interactions in China. Many Chinese educational institutions and businesses often require proof of language proficiency for non-natives.

The certification is granted based on the level of testing taken, and may provide exemption from Chinese language courses. The HSK, YCT, and BCT certificates are valid permanently; however, for students applying to Chinese colleges or universities, the accompanying score report is only valid for two years.
