About the UWP Web Highlights

The main UW-Platteville web site has a new UWP Web Highlights feature which allows internal service areas to have an occasional graphical link displayed. Since the main UWP web site has such high traffic, the intention is to have random highlights displayed each time the pages are visited. This approach gives a more varied and dynamic view point of the UW-Platteville experience.

Requirements of a UWP Web Highlights

All UWP Web Highlights will meet the following requirements:

• Highlights will only be developed for official UWP departments and service areas which serve the mission of the University.
• Highlights will only link to web pages hosted on official UWP web servers.
• Highlights will be developed by (or approved by) the Web Development Office.
• Highlights will be categorized so they will be displayed on appropriate pages.
• Highlights will be removed if the web site being targeted is not fully Web Accessible or not up to date as defined by the UW-Platteville Web Policy.

Rare exceptions to the requirements will require the approval of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Information Services AND the UW-Platteville Image Committee.

UWP Web Highlights Categorization

All UWP Web Highlights will be categorized based on the ‘audiences’ that each area serves. The ‘audiences’ are broken into the following categories:

• Students
• Faculty / Staff
• Alumni
• Prospective Students / Parents
• Visitors

Each UWP Web Highlights will be categorized as to what area(s) they serve. For example the Pioneer Involvement Center would serve only the Student category, where the Pioneer Athletics would serve all of the categories.

Each web page off the UW-Platteville main site will then have a category assignment. Based on the category assignment, appropriate UWP Web Highlights will randomly appear.
