Criminal Justice Association
The purpose of the Criminal Justice Association is to provide a medium for interaction among the people in the field of Criminal Justice. It also provides a unified voice for students of Criminal Justice in all matters of professional and academic concerns.
The Criminal Justice Association at UWP is run by students, which allows the majors and minors in Criminal Justice an opportunity to utilize the full potential of the field in a broad sense. Most aspects of the Criminal Justice field are covered by the Association to aid students in selecting a suitable career.
The Criminal Justice Association is an active and growing student organization which is open to all Criminal Justice majors and minors. We currently have over 70 members that participate in planning for excellent speakers, field trips and social events.
Past speakers have been representatives from police, court, and correctional agencies (WI Attorney General, WI Supreme Court Justice, Drug Enforcement Agents). On field trips we have visited prisons, drug rehabilitation centers, crime labs, museums, and other facilities that are either directly or indirectly related to our field.
Career Day is an annual event sponsored by the Criminal Justice Association. The 40th annual Criminal Justice Career Day will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 with representatives from the local, state and federal levels. Career Day is open to all students and faculty who are looking for career opportunities or contacts with hiring agencies. High school students are invited to attend as well to learn more about the different career opportunities in the criminal justice field.
