Mixing large volumes

If mixing in an Erlenmeyer flask, swirl the solution until the substances are mixed. The sloping sides help prevent liquid from splashing out of the flask. An Erlenmeyer flask is useful when mixing substances may result in gas evolution.

If using a beaker, stir the substances with a glass rod.
