Assembling the Equipment

Clamp the side-arm flask and trap in place next to each other. Using rubber tubing, connect the flask to the trap, then connect the trap to the vacuum source. The trap should have one piece of tubing open to the air; place an open screw clamp onto this piece of tubing. Put the Buchner funnel onto the flask, and place an unfolded piece of filter paper on the flat surface of the funnel.
