Why should I wipe the cuvette with a laboratory tissue and
Wiping with a laboratory tissue removes fingerprints or other
materials from the outside of the cuvette. If not removed, these
may cause inaccurate and inconsistent readings of a sample.
Two different absorbance readings can be seen here:

Imperfections in the cuvette can result in different readings
if the cuvette is not aligned the same way for every reading.
In addition, many solutions can be corrosive and can damage the instrument. Removing these solutions from the outside of the cuvette is important so that they do not come into contact with the spectrophotometer.
