Injecting the sample

Lower the switch on the chart recorder so that the paper begins to scroll and the pen is in contact with the paper.

Insert the needle into the injection port without bending the tip. With a smooth motion, depress the piston. Cleanly withdraw the syringe from the instrument.

On the chart paper, immediately mark the point of injection by quickly turning the "zero" knob and then returning it to its original setting.
