Minoring in Chemistry

The Chemistry minor is designed for students pursuing other majors; for example, those preparing to teach secondary school. The minor requirements begin with a solid foundation in general chemistry:

CHEM 1140 and CHEM 1240, General Chemistry I and II (8 credits total)

Or

CHEM 1450, Chemistry for Engineers (5 credits).

In addition to general chemistry, Chemistry minors must add 16 to 19 credits of electives from upperlevel courses to reach a total of 24 credits, including at least four lab credits above the 2000 level. This is also known as "the 24/4 rule."
