New for Summer 2013,
a week-long, college-credit program
for high-school students:
Chemistry & NextGen Tech

Welcome to the Chemistry Program

at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville

Our program is currently home to about 140 undergraduate majors, each of whom is pursuing a bachelor's degree in either chemistry, biochemistry, or criminalistics. We have about 50 additional students in affiliated minors: chemistry and MEMS/nanotechnology.

The Chemistry program is served by 10 faculty and several instructional staff. We are supported by our program assistant, Kelly Steiger, and our full-time laboratory manager, Kari Frederick. Duane Foust provides additional technical support through the Engineering Physics program.

UW-Platteville Chemistry faculty represent the following areas of specialization:

Our program is research active. All faculty are involved in ongoing research projects and professional development.

Our Facilities

The Chemistry program is located on the second and third floors of Ottensman Hall. Our facilities include teaching labs for freshman chemistry, quantitative analysis, organic, instrumental, physical, and biochemistry. In addition, each member of the Chemistry faculty has a research lab, and the program maintains a large number of sophisticated instruments to support faculty-student research activities. On the second floor, we share space with the Nanotechnology Center for Collaborative Research and Development; so Chemistry research students have access to its facilities and equipment, as well.
