Goals and Objectives

Project Goal

We want students to understand that beyond merely doing their work, they must also be able to explain it with respect to goals they have set for themselves and expectations we as a school hold for them. We want students to become more reflective about their work and to use the knowledge gained through reflection to make decisions about their future. We believe the mechanics of this project will allow these things to happen.

Project Objectives

The G-E-T Middle School will:

have a portfolio mechanism in place in which students will collect and reflect on samples of their work.
have a conferencing model by which students will demonstrate accountability for their learning by interpreting their work to their parent(s)/guardian(s).
have a process by which to train students to interpret their work to their parent(s)/guardian(s).
train staff members to work with students on the mechanics of portfolio collection, reflection and conferencing.
