PROJECT GOALS
The mission statement of Washington School is:
THE MISSION
of Washington School,
a primary source of quality
educational excellence,
is to ensure that all students learn the skills
and acquire the knowledge necessary for success
at each stage of their lives by providing
a safe supportive, nurturing environment:;
an innovative curriculum taught be highly qualified teachers
who respect and teach the worth and dignity of individuals;
the equitable distribution of services and resources; and
the creation of partnerships that encompass the family and community.
In a continuing effort to provide middle school students with the means to succeed and develop to their full potential, homeroom is recognized as the optimal delivery method. In an effort to create a more positive image, homeroom will now be referred to as Homebase. Homebase goals are as follows:
Guide the personal, social, and academic development of our fifth through eighth grade students.
Develop and foster a positive personal relationship for every student with an adult advocate.
Facilitate positive peer interaction.
Provide students with the opportunity to explore new dimensions.
HOMEROOM OBJECTIVES
Homeroom objectives will be to assist the student by:
Increasing self-esteem, conflict management, and coping skills.
Becoming more aware of individual health and wellness.
Developing appropriate social and interpersonal communication skills.
Establishing a personal commitment to academic responsibility.
Developing an awareness of career opportunities.
Developing a comfort level for trying new activities.
