LAWS OF THE LAND
All state laws and local ordinances apply to the school setting. School Board policies also outline acceptable school behavior and consequences for violation. Parent conferences, suspensions, referrals to law enforcement agencies and hearings with the Superintendent and School Board will result. (For more details, see Parent section, "Laws of the Land")
MORE LAWS OF THE LAND
- Under the influence, use or possession of alcohol/controlled substances/counterfeit
substances/tobacco
- Distribution or transfer of alcohol/controlled substances/counterfeit
substances/tobacco
- Gang related activities (insignias, clothing, gestures...)
- Arson
- Battery
- Disorderly Conduct
- False Alarm
- Fireworks, Explosive Devices, and or Dangerous Weapons
- Harassment (Physical, Sexual or Verbal), Intimidation
- Theft
- Vandalism
LAWS OF OMS
At OMS you can expect one or more of the following to happen when rules are broken:
- Let's talk. You will meet with your individual teacher(s) to discuss the
consequence(s) regarding your actions.
- Failure to serve detention will result in the detention time doubling.
Failure to serve again results in a behavioral discipline notice and the principal is
notified. If you fail to serve a third time, you will receive an in-school suspension
and serve the detention time after school.
- Disrespect of any kind (insulting - verbal or written, name calling,
etc.) may result in detention, in-school suspension, or up to 5 days of
out-of-school suspension.
- If you receive three behavioral discipline notices during a quarter, you will
receive a suspension and lose the privilege of attending the next major school event.
