MISSION/PURPOSE:
Mission:
"Linking Education to the World of Work." The primary purpose of the Career Center is to educate and advise undergraduate, graduate, alumni, faculty and employers in developing, evaluating, and/or implementing career, educational and employment decisions and plans. The Career Center supports the mission, academic programs, and advancement of the institution.
Purpose:
- Develop partnerships and relationships with employers, faculty/staff, alumni, and other career services offices;
- Foster individual career and graduate/professional school exploration and planning to empower students to define and achieve their goals;
- Provide resources and strategies for attaining careers in a global society;
- Facilitate direct interaction between students and employers;
- Provide opportunities for personal and professional skill development to Career Center student workers to enable them to achieve their career goals;
- Support the institutional mission through the creative and responsible use of all available resources; and
- Continuously assess and address the perceptions and needs of our constituents.
Learning Outcomes:
To provide resources and networking opportunities to assist students with career, academic and personal goals using these learning outcomes:
- Learn the expectations, skills and value of participating in an internship/co-op or other experiential learning opportunities and related work experiences.
- Learn the procedures, processes and strategies of how to conduct a job search.
- Learn how to develop a resume and job search correspondence.
- Learn interviewing strategies and techniques and of other related professional image topics.
- Learn the importance of networking and utilizing personal, business, alumni, and print/electronic resources.
