Have you ever found yourself wondering how you could make a contribution or give back to the university but you might not have the resources to do so or you have not been able to identify the activity to get involved with?
Your involvement with the university can be critical for a students' professional, personal and academic development. With your assistance, you can have a direct impact on students' lives assisting with:
- Clarifying career goals
- Identifying a career field
- Providing information so students can make good career decisions
- Building a networking system
- Developing a professional demeanor
- Enhancing a students level of self-confidence and self-esteem
- Addressing issues of preparedness to enter the professional job market
The "UW-Platteville Connection" program is especially designed for Alumni or Friends of the University. Interested individuals register with the Career Center, identify the activity and determine their level of involvement.
Consider participating in this program by:
- Speaking to a classroom regarding trends in a professional field, management strategies, leadership styles
- Presenting to student organizations
- Providing an opportunity for a co-op/internship
- Participating in mock interview sessions
- Volunteering to serve as an employer representative for "Dinner with Ms. Manners"
- Serving as a panel member or workshop presenter for the Career Center
- Serving as a mentor
- Participating in a job shadowing experience
- Participating in an informational interview
- Serving as a contact for a student looking to relocate
- Supplying special project work for classroom or group projects
- Hosting a company tour
