The programs in the College of BILSA are known for the effective combination of theory, to develop critical thinking skills, and "hands on experiential learning," to apply these skills. Through this combination, students develop skill sets sought after by industry, graduate programs, and professional programs. In addition, the university is known for its student centered focus where students enjoy a family like atmosphere as they pursue their academic goals. About Dean Wayne Weber
Dr. Wayne Weber earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology (genetics emphasis), a Master of Science in Zoology (genetics emphasis) and Ph.D. in Zoology (genetics emphasis) from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. During his Ph.D. he did his research at the Analytical Genetic Testing Center in Denver, Colo., where he worked on human molecular phylogenetics and did case work for the company. His work on human phylogenetics was published in the journal Human Biology. Dr. Weber has been a professor in the Biology Department at UW-Platteville for 14 years and served as Biology Department Chair for six of those years. During that time he has been quite active in the university serving on multiple committees including Faculty Senate for six years.
