With six wrestlers making their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference debuts, UW-Platteville fell 26-19 at UW-Oshkosh Wednesday night.
Pioneer stalwarts Zach Chambers and Ryan Higgins, both defending conference champions, won their matches, as did newcomers and former high school teammates Jesse Milks and Scott Nicholas.
Chambers pinned Morgan Sickening in 2:46 at 141 pounds, while Higgins defeated Paul Gretzinger 12-3 at 149. Milks earned his first collegiate pin, taking down Dallas Moe in 2:47 at 157 pounds, and Nicholas defeated Kyle Coleman 8-1 at 197 pounds. Milks and Nicholas are both from Rock City, Ill. and Dakota High School.
The Pioneers dropped to 4-2 overall, while the Titans improved to 2-1 in the WIAC opener for both teams.
UW-Platteville takes part in the 22-team Concordia Invitational Saturday in Mequon, Wis.
