Pioneers win MSOE title

Behind three individual champions, UW-Platteville cruised to the team title at the eight-team Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational Saturday.

The Pioneers, showing no signs of letup after Thursday's 25-21 upset of third-ranked UW-La Crosse, scored 104.5 points. UW-Oshkosh was second with 72.5, while Lakeland scored 68, Lawrence 49.5, Wheaton $48.5, MSOE 35, St. Olaf 32 and Maranatha Baptist 4.

UW-Platteville's Zach Chambers won the title at 141 pounds, Ryan Higgins at 149 and Jesse Milks at 157. The Pioneers proved especially strong at those weights, as Dane Droessler and Matt McGill were second at 141 and 149, while Eric Kees placed fourth at 157.

Also taking second were Jeff Gale at 133 and Ryan Rozek at 285, while Matt Beschta placed fourth at 184.
