Chambers' title highlights Concordia Open

Zach Chambers won the 141-pound championship, highlighting UW-Platteville's day at the 22-team Concordia Open Saturday in Mequon, Wis.

Chambers won all four of his matches, beating Manchester's Matt Pallidino 14-5 in the championship match. The top-seeded Chambers won his first match via a pin in 53 seconds, and the other three by at least seven points. Dane Droessler took fifth in the same weight class, losing to Pallidino in the semifinals, then battling back to beat fourth-seeded Eddie Leonard of Loras 10-6 in the fifth-place match.

Ryan Higgins was third at 149 pounds, going 4-1 on the day. He whipped Elmhurst's Jeff Kastel 17-4 for third place.

Ryan Rozek matched Droessler's fifth-place finish. He won his first three matches at 285, then eventually topped UW-Whitewater's Derrik Johnson 4-1 for fifth place.

Taking seventh for the Pioneers were Matt McGill (149), Jesse Milks (157) and Matt Beschta (184), while Dan Azarian (149) was ninth and Justin Washington (285) 10th.

UW-Platteville makes its home debut Thursday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. vs. defending Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion UW-La Crosse.
