Trio earns academic honors

Three UW-Platteville wrestlers earned spots on the 2007 NCAA Division III All-Scholar Team by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).

Ryan Rozek and Ryan Higgins both earned honors for the second consecutive year, while Zach Chambers earned the honor for the first time.

Rozek, a senior from Plymouth, is a mechanical engineering major. He compiled a 21-14 record at 285 with a team-high 14 pins, giving him an 85-51 career mark.

Higgins, a sophomore from Oconomowoc, earned all-America honors after placing eighth in the NCAA III national championships at 149 pounds. He won a team-best 30 matches this season, going 30-6. Higgins is an engineering major.

Chambers won his third Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title and his first all-American honor after taking fourth in the nation at 141. The senior from Mineral Point finished his standout career with a sparkling 105-17 record. He is a physical education major.

The CBS Sports winter wrapup show that will feature Chambers will be shown on a weekend sometime in late March or early April at a time to be announced soon.
