
UW-Platteville freshman Jesse Milks earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference wrestler of the week award for his championship performance in Naperville, Ill.
Milks, a 157-pounder from Rock City, Ill. (Dakota High School), earned the Most Outstanding Wrestler award after leading UW-Platteville to the team championship at the North Central (Ill.) Invitational Jan. 19-20. He won the 157-pound weight class, defeating the nation’s fifth-ranked wrestler in the final. Milks used a late reversal to beat North Central’s Bobby Gingerich, 7-6, to win the championship. He won his first two matches by technical fall, then beat second-seeded Chris Kelly of MacMurray (Ill.), 6-3, in the semifinals.
With his four victories, Milks raised his season record to 22-6.
