Damian Droessler is a senior running back and co-captain at UW-Platteville. The Cuba City native fulfilled every child's fantasy last year when he scored on the last play of the game to beat UW-Eau Claire, 20-17.
He leads the Pioneers into their first home game Saturday vs. the University of Dubuque at 7 p.m.
How do you like the renovated Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium?
"It's absolutely beautiful with the landscaping and everything else, but the field itself is probably the best any of us will have play on."
What will it be like to run through the tunnel on the new field the first time?
"I'm already getting chills thinking about it. I can't believe it's happened, and to be under the lights at 7 o'clock on Sept. 3 is going to be a wonderful feeling."
What is your career highlight?
"Other than finishing last year with a winning season by beating UW-Stout, it would have to be the fourth and one play against UW-Eau Claire. Beating the number six team in the nation with three seconds left was a special moment."
How does this year's team look?
"The team's chemistry is unparalleled to anything I've ever been a part of. Last year's team was close, but this year's team has taken it even farther. It looks like we will carry positive momentum all the way through a 10-game schedule."
