Weekender Profile: Liz Tesch

Liz Tech is a center for the Pioneer women's basketball team who hails from Dorchester, WI and Colby High School. She is also one of two seniors on the team as well as a co- captain with two other teammates. The Pioneers begin play this weekend at the Ripon College tournament.

You went to London and played for Team USA over the summer. How was that experience?

"It was a lot of fun. We got to go over and play with some other members of the WIAC. It was kind of nice to get to know some of the other players we normally compete against and it was fun playing with an all-star team."

Do you think that your experience in London will bring anything to the team this year?

"Right now we have a really young team. When we were in London we practiced with each other once and went and played, so that teaches you a little bit of patience and learning how other people play so I guess that will help in dealing with the new kids."

You are the lone returning all-conference player this season. With all of your new teammates, how do you think this season will play out for you?

"I think it will be interesting. We have 10 new people. We have a lot of talent and we are just working on getting to know how everyone plays and getting on the same page. I think we'll have a pretty good season."

How far do you think the team will go this season?

"It's always a goal to get a home playoff game and make it into the playoffs. I don't know how we are going to do but hopefully the learning curve will happen quickly, and we'll do well."

Do you think you will have a lot of team bonding this year?

"O Yeah! We've definitely done a lot of that already, kind of getting to know everyone. It was nice to have conditioning before the season started so we got to know everyone through that. Doing the stadium stairs makes for good bonding."

What is your major, and what do you plan on doing after graduation?

"I'm an Agriculture Business major with an emphasis in Marketing Communications and an Animal Science major with an emphasis in Dairy. I haven't decided what I want to do yet. I might go home to the farm, or get a job dealing with agricultural in some aspect and then maybe going back to the farm later, I don't know yet."
