Devin Wallace

Weekender Profile: Devin Wallace

UW-Platteville's Devin Wallace is a senior soccer defender from Milwaukee and Whitefish Bay High School. He leads the Pioneers into their next home action, Tuesday, Sept. 27 vs. Coe at 6 p.m. and Oct. 2 vs. Ripon at 7 p.m. in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

UW-Platteville beat UW-Oshkosh 2-1 on Sept. 15, your first win over the ranked Titans since 1987. Describe what that felt like to get over that hump?

"It was definitely one of the best wins since I have been here. It was a culmination of hard work for all of us. It's probably the happiest I've been with a win."

Based on your early-season play, what do you see for the Pioneers for the rest of the year?

"Hopefully that can be a turning point for our season. There is a huge difference between a 3-3 and a 4-2 (season record), especially with a game like Oshkosh. We want this to be the big turning point."

What are your strengths as a player?

"Probably speed, and then my right foot."

What about defense do you like?

"Just the one-on-one battles, having to battle over and over with a guy to make sure he doesn't do his job."

What brought you to UW-Platteville originally?

"I was recruited pretty hard, and when I got here the guys seemed pretty nice. I heard it was a good school, and it was a good fit for me, smaller programs and smaller school with fewer distractions."

What would you like to do after you earn your degree? Do you see coaching in your future?

"I want to be an elementary school teacher. I like teaching, probably second or third grade. I already have licenses to coach, too, but I want to get the teaching position down first."
