The Pioneers (21-14) were held to a .115 hitting percentage in the loss; whereas the Pointers hit .225 in the win. UW-Platteville had five service aces and senior setter Ali Sikic had 47 assists.
The Pointers (26-6), who are the No. 1 seed, had two players - Christina Brinkman and Morgan Bartkowiak - with 16 and 10 kills, respectively to lead UW-Stevens Point to its first berth in the WIAC Tournament finals in program history.
A key factor in the win for UW-Stevens Point was its frontline play as they recorded 12 blocks, including eight block assists from Bartkowiak. Five different players had a hand in a block for the Pointers.
The loss sends the Pioneers to the third-place match on Saturday where they will face UW-Eau Claire, who dropped a five-set decision to UW-Whitewater in the other semifinal.
