For the second straight day, UW-Platteville won one and lost one at the UW-La Crosse Invitational, with both of Saturday's matches ending in 3-1 scores.

UWP defeated Buena Vista 25-18, 14-25, 25-19, 25-16, then Luther stopped the Pioneers 25-15, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18.

Briana Kaiser earned a spot on the six-person all-tournament team for the Pioneers, now 19-10 overall. Kaiser totaled 62 kills in the four matches, reaching at least 13 each time. Lisa Bell and Melissa Hillebrand added 14 kills apiece against BV, and Hillebrand recorded 11 more agianst luther.

UW-Platteville split a pair of matches at the UW-La Crosse Invitational Friday night, beating Clarke 25-21, 23-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-12 and falling to Cornell 17-25, 23-25, 25-19, 22-25.

The Pioneers, now 18-9 overall, play two more Iowa schools Saturday, facing Buena Vista and Luther.

Briana Kaiser blasted a career-high 18 kills against Clarke (14-17), while Melanie Bailiff had 14, one shy of her best. Abby Carey recorded 21 digs, and Ali Sikic made 52 assists.

Melissa Hillebrand led the Pioneer effort with 17 kills against the Rams (20-7), and Kaiser added 13 kills and five blocks.
