UW-Platteville stunned #13 UW-Eau Claire, beating the hosts 25-23, 25-18, 25-22 Friday night.

The Blugolds are the highest ranking team to fall to UWP since the Pioneers took down ninth-ranked UW-Oshkosh in the 2007 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament.

The Pioneers improved to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the WIAC, while the Blugolds fell to 9-21, 0-1.

Melissa Hillebrand had 12 kills, and Samantha Rampart made 10 for the Pioneers, who out-hit the Blugolds .196 to .139. Anny Carey paced the strong defensive effort with 18 digs, while Lisa Bell, and Melanie Bailiff each had two blocks. Liz Amici led the Blugolds with eight kills.

The northern trip continues Saturday for the Pioneers, who play at UW-Superior.
