UW-Platteville hit its way past Millikin in five games Friday afternoon at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational and then beat Trine for its eighth win in nine matches.
The Pioneers had 10 kills in their 15 points in the decisive fifth game against Millikin. UWP finished with a 25-18, 15-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-13 victory over the Big Blue, who dropped to 13-6.
Melissa Hillebrand had 13 kills, Samantha Rampart 12, and Briana Kaiser 10 for the balanced Pioneers. Leslie White had 23 digs, and Lisa Bell seven blocks to pace the defense.
The Pioneers then blasted Trine 27-25, 25-16, 25-23, improving to 11-6. Hillebrand led UWP with 14 kills, while Melanie Bailiff had 12, and Rampart 10. Returning from an injury, Stephanie Tronnes had nine kills.
