Melissa Hillebrand pounded out 11 kills, leading UW-Platteville to its first victory of the season, 3-1 over Maryville (Mo.) in the Emory Invitational Saturday in Atlanta.
The Pioneers concluded their two-day tournament with a 3-1 loss to King (Tenn.) and a 1-3 record.
Hillebrand had double-figure kills in all four contests, including the 25-27, 25-22, 25-22, 25-12 win over Maryville. Ali Sikic made 34 assists, while Abby Carey had 25 digs for the Pioneers.
Hillebrand was the only Pioneer in double figures against King, as she recorded 17. The Tennessee college won 25-19, 18-25, 25-18, 25-14.

The UW-Platteville volleyball team took a 12-8 third-set lead, but top-ranked and defending national champion Emory rallied to complete a 3-0 sweep Friday in Atlanta.
Emory beat the Pioneers 25-15, 25-9, 25-22 in the first day of the number-one ranked team's tournament. UWP also fell to New Paltz 25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-21 in Friday's first match.
Melissa Hillebrand was the Pioneers' hitting star, recording 16 kills vs. New Paltz and 12 against the Eagles. Ali Sikic, who was ranked 29th in the country in assists as a freshman, had 41 in the opener and 22 against Emory. Abby Carey totaled 46 digs on the day, with 31 coming in the first match.
UW-Platteville plays Marvyille and Kings College Saturday to complete the tournament.
