UW-Platteville ended the season with a 3-0 loss at 11th-ranked UW-Whitewater Tuesday in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference quarterfinals.
The fourth-seeded Warhawks beat the fifth-seeded Pioneers 25-21, 25-13, 25-12 to move on to Friday's semifinals with a 29-7 record. The Pioneers ended the year 16-18.
Melissa Hillebrand and Rachel Chapman each had seven kills for the Pioneers, who were out-hit .228 to .100. Liz Benzschawel paced the Warhawks with nine kills.
Chapman and Rochelle Ripp are the lone seniors for Coach Deb Schulman's Pioneers, who finished fifth in the WIAC and gave their coach her 500th win. Of the Pioneers' 18 losses, 14 came to teams that were nationally or regionally ranked during the season.
