For the second straight Wednesday, UW-Platteville captured a five-set win on the road against an Iowa Conference opponent.

The Pioneers downed Wartburg in Waverly, Iowa, tonight, 23-25, 25-20, 25-13, 29-31, 15-11. UWP, who won at Coe last Wednesday, are now 6-4 overall.

Lisa Bell exploded for 19 kills and a .429 hitting average to pace the Pioneers, while Rachel Chapman added 14 kills and freshman Casee Simms had a career-best 12. Stephanie Tronnes made 10 kills for the Pioneers, who hit .244 to the Knights' .152.

Ali Sikic had 55 assists, while sophomore Abby Carey recorded a career-high 30 digs. Rochelle Ripp served up a pair of aces.

The Pioneers are now off until opening conference season at UW-Stevens Point next Wednesday. Their next home matches are Friday, Sept. 19 vs. UW-Superior at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 20 vs. UW-Eau Claire at noon.
