One good comeback deserved another.

UW-Platteville and Wartburg traded large comebacks in the first two games before the Pioneers settled down and beat the Knights three games to one Friday night in Williams Fieldhouse.

Wartburg won game one 30-28, overcoming a 19-9 Pioneer lead, while UWP came back from a 7-0 deficit in game two to post a 30-26 victory. The hosts then won the final two games, 30-26, 30-25, breaking away from a 21-21 tie in the final game.

The Pioneers improved to 12-5 with the back-and-forth win, while the visitors from Waverly, Iowa, fell to 5-7.

Melissa Hillebrand made 20 kills for the Pioneers, while Lisa Bell had 18, Rachel Chapman 16 and Emily Walker 11. Kelly Laschinger set 62 assists, while Rochelle Ripp had 20 digs.

Ashley Rogers led the Knights with 20 kills.

The Pioneers return to action Wednesday at UW-Whitewater then host the two-day, five-team Impact Sports/Nike Invitational, beginning Friday at 4 p.m.
