There must be something about UW-Oshkosh's Kolf Sports Center that inspires UW-Platteville volleyball comebacks.

The Pioneers overcame a 2-0 hole to defeat Elmhurst 27-30, 28-30, 30-25, 30-27, 15-12 in the first round of the UW-Oshkosh Invitational Friday. In their last match at UWO, the Pioneers fought back from a 2-0 hole to beat host and second-seeded UW-Oshkosh in the first round of the 2006 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs.

UWP then had its six-match winning streak halted by Bethel in four games Friday night. The Minnesota school beat the Pioneers 30-28, 27-30, 30-24, 30-24.

Rachel Chapman piled up 20 kills in each match, while Lisa Bell had 15 in both contests. Melissa Hillebrand totaled 29 kills, while Kelly Laschinger had 120 assists and Rochelle Ripp 61 digs. Emily Walker had 14 kills and 33 digs in the comeback win over Elmhurst.

The UW-Oshkosh Invitational continues Saturday.
