Homecoming weekend was good for the UW-Platteville volleyball team, which completed a sweep Saturday by beating UW-Stout 30-20, 30-18, 30-17 in Williams Fieldhouse.
The Pioneers, who also beat UW-River Falls 3-0 Friday, improved to 18-7 overall and 2-3 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Blue Devils fell to 9-12, 0-5 with their second loss in Platteville in eight days. The Pioneers also beat Stout 3-0 Sept. 28 in their tournament.
Rachel Chapman, who last week became just the eighth player in Pioneer history to surpass 1,000 career kills, had 13 Saturday while Lisa Bell had 12. Kelly Laschinger had 39 assists and now has 4,425, second all-time in Pioneer history.
The Pioneers out-hit the Blue Devils .351-.118 and had just 12 hitting errors all match.
UWP plays to Williams Fieldhouse for the final time this week, facing UW-Stevens Point Wednesday and Coe Friday. Both matches begin at 7 p.m.
